FAQ

An intern is a student hired full-time by a company, up to 6 months, in order to apply his academic knowledge in a real business environment. An internship agreement is signed between the host company, the student and his/her university to define the relationship between the 3 parties.

We believe our internship solutions provide you with a number of benefits including:

  • Secure skilled and knowledgeable students coming from the best local and international universities worldwide, motivated by a professional experience in Australia to support their transition to the workforce.
  • Discover and train your next talents.
  • Add highly motivated team members for your company.
  • Gain additional local resources allowing you to keep activities in-house and onshore.
  • Document and streamline your internal processes.
  • Offer your staff management opportunities and ability to delegate tactical parts of their work to have more time to focus on strategic issues.
  • Get a GenY pair of eyes in and on your business.
  • Offer win-win agreement to students, their Education providers and your company.

Our internship programs are usually either 3 months or 6 months individually depending on the
specific role and the needs of our client. Additionally, universities may require students to do a 6-
month internship as part of their course.
Therefore, Australiance can assist in designing individual internship programs tailored to meet
the needs of our clients and students.

Interns that have been successfully involved in our internship program in the past have been from the most prestigious universities in Australia and around the world.

Common academic backgrounds are:

  • Sales (BD, Wholesale, Retail)
  • Marketing (Digital, Offline, Events, etc)
  • Finance & Accounting
  • Business Development
  • Procurement & supply chain
  • Consulting & Strategy
  • IT Development & Project Management
  • Engineering & Project Management
  • Human Resources

Depending on your objectives and the profile of your ideal intern, the total cost of our internship solutions typically range from AUD 9,200 to AUD 15,200+GST for a 6-month internship, including our placement and management fees and the internship allowance paid to the student.

It is important to note that our services are FREE for students/applicants (unlike internship placement agencies charging student to find them an internship). During the recruitment process and the duration of their internship, we provide them guidance to ensure both the intern and your organisation have the best experience possible.

Please refer to our Services agreement to understand our services and obligations towards your organisation, the selected intern and his education provider.

An unpaid internship is one where the intern is not entitled to be paid for any work performed. An unpaid internship must be either a vocational placement or a genuine work experience (i.e. an arrangement primarily for learning by the intern).

A paid internship constitutes the employment of the intern by the business. Thus, the business is required to comply with the requirements of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), the terms of any relevant awards and any other legislation applicable to employees (e.g. superannuation, workers’ compensation, tax).

After your contact us on the link above, this is the typical process we will follow:

1. Needs Assessment- discussion with the Australiance Team about your objectives, the role, timeline and budget  to validate your eligibility and establish our service agreement (25% deposit required)
2. Source Candidates: We source candidates for you through various online and offline channels.
3. Prepare shortlist: we conduct inital screening audio/video interviews and present a shortlist.
4. Conduct interviews: As per your convenience we can schedule the interviews with the selected candidates.
5. Background checks: Once you have selected your preferred candidate, we conduct the background  checks and work with the student and his university as appropriate to establish the internship agreement.
6. Onboarding & Success Management: We assist in smooth onboarding of new hires and also conduct regular performance and admin follow up over the duration of the internship.

Depending on the nature of the role, your requirements, the timing of the year and your budget it usually takes 1 to 4 weeks to find the perfect fit for your company.

Businesses are, under Australian law, permitted to engage an intern on an unpaid basis provided that intern is engaged in either a vocational placement (as defined by the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)) or as a genuine work experience.

If the internship is being taken as part of an education or training course from an Australian tertiary education institution and predominantly benefits the student it is likely to be a vocational placement.

Business may provide an intern a reimbursement of, or contribution to, expenses provided that such reimbursement or contribution is not calculated by reference to time worked. This reimbursement is considered an allowance.
